Problem
When installing Genesis from the MSI file an error message “Error writing to file” appears
The error message may look like: “Error writing to file: C:\Users\<name>\App Data\Local\Genesis\Genesis.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.”
Solution
Disable your Anti Virus Software for the installation.
Genesis is an unsigned application, loaded from an untrusted source (Internet) and contains mechanism to load further code over the Internet (the internal updater) - judging by an AntiVirus software, this makes it a pretty suspicious piece of software.
Also writing EXE files to <userdir>\App Data\Local - which Genesis uses to install the software without admin privileges) is sometimes considered a hidden installation and blocked,
Anti Virus software like Avast often wrongly detects Genesis as a malware.
