Summary

After half a year, this is a new feature release. We introduced a new actor type, changed sheets for some actors and added a comfortable way to import NPC stat blocks.

Highlights

Unified sheet for (living) non-player actors

Instead of having a custom sheet per actor type that duplicate lots of code, we overhauled the NPC sheet and reused it for other actors.

You can new switch each sheet in a “editable” or “overview” mode. The Overview resembles stat blocks from the publications, while in Editable mode it reuses functionality from the player sheet

 


 

New actor type: Spirit

You can now create actors explicitly for spirits. The sheet allows you to select the kind of spirit and its force rating and auto-calculated stats.

Warning: This feature may need a change. Currently we hardcoded spirit stat blocks with data from the CRB and we may need to remove that “knowledge” for copyright reasons.

You can even enter custom spirits, by entering the modification to the force rating as a base attribute value.


Statblock importer for NPCs/Grunts

You can now copy a NPC statblock from a PDF and paste it on the Foundry canvas. That automatically creates a new NPC actor with parsed attributes, skills and weapons.

This feature highly depends on the PDF viewer you are using and the language settings in Foundry. If your world is set to English, you can only import from US PDFs.

In theory this could work for all languages that this game system supports, but we only tested it with DE and EN PDFs.


A word on Foundry V10 compatibility

We are officially still not compatible with Foundry V10 Foundry V10 is great, but it also made changes to the way data is accessed. To officially support this, we require the (inofficial) Typescript definition files for V10 - which unfortunately don’t exist yet. It is quite an effort to migrate those from V9 to V10 and as far as I can see, only one person from the community works on this. It may well be, that they will never be released.

Fortunately it seems the SR6 game system still mostly works, thanks to a compatibility layer Foundry V10 introduced. In the past we already fixed a problem with initiative and will do our best to be compatible with V10, but as long as we don’t have the Type definitions for V10, we can never guarantee it works on V10 or higher.
